Expert 1-on-1 online tutoring for Grade 12 Chemistry. We break down organic chemistry, electrochemistry, thermochemistry, and more so you can ace your tests and build the foundation for university science.
SCH4U is the Ontario Grade 12 Chemistry course and one of the most content-rich sciences on a student's transcript. It builds directly on SNC2D and SCH3U, introducing university-level topics including organic chemistry, quantum atomic theory, chemical thermodynamics, equilibrium, and electrochemistry.
This course is a required prerequisite for most health science and life science programs in Ontario, including biochemistry, biology, nursing, pharmacy, and pre-medicine. Universities such as U of T, McMaster, Western, and Queen's require SCH4U for competitive science admission.
Students often find SCH4U challenging because each unit introduces entirely new conceptual frameworks. Our PhD-led tutors help students connect theory to problem-solving so no topic feels isolated or overwhelming.
IUPAC naming, functional groups, organic reactions (addition, substitution, elimination), and reaction mechanisms.
Quantum mechanical model, electron configurations, VSEPR theory, molecular geometry, and hybridization.
Hess's law, calorimetry, standard enthalpies of formation, and calculating enthalpy changes for reactions.
Le Chatelier's principle, equilibrium constant expressions, acid-base equilibria (Ka/Kb), and solubility product (Ksp).
Oxidation-reduction reactions, balancing redox equations, galvanic cells, standard cell potential, and electrolysis.
Past test walkthroughs, systematic error analysis, and targeted practice for the final exam.
IUPAC naming rules feel arbitrary at first, and distinguishing between reaction types requires pattern recognition that takes time to develop without guided practice.
ICE tables, Ka/Kb expressions, and Ksp problems involve layered algebraic reasoning. Many students set up the framework incorrectly, leading to wrong answers even when the chemistry is understood.
Balancing redox reactions in both acidic and basic conditions, and calculating cell potentials from standard reduction potentials, requires a systematic approach many students haven't been shown clearly.
We assess exactly where you are in the SCH4U curriculum and build sessions around your specific weak points — no time wasted on topics you already know.
Our tutors hold advanced degrees in chemistry and related sciences. They explain concepts from first principles so you build genuine understanding, not just memorized procedures.
We work through past Ontario SCH4U tests, identify your error patterns, and make sure you walk into every assessment with confidence.
All sessions are delivered live over video call. Book evenings, weekends, or whenever fits your schedule. Available to students across all of Ontario.
